WLAN Max

With Wireless Lan (WLAN) customers can access email, download large attachments, surf the web and access their company LAN at broadband speeds. WLAN uses either the Xda, PDA or laptop’s own functionality and operates on a special hotspot network, available in thousands of UK and selected worldwide locations.

  • This is designed for customers who want to make more effective use of their device and need access to information when they are out.

  • WLAN provides O2 customers with wireless broadband internet access meaning they can send/receive emails, browse the internet and access company systems and LAN (via VPN).

  • As most laptops already have the WLAN capability built in, they can usually use their existing IT infrastructure and equipment eliminating the need for further investment.

To use the O2 Wireless LAN service, a customer must be: An O2 voice customer on Best for Business/Mobex - they will be authenticated through their voice SIM, so WLAN must be provisioned on this SIM card or An O2 Data Card customer - they will be authenticated through their SIM in their O2 Data Card using the new O2 Connection Manager software, so WLAN must be provisioned on this SIM card and and the customer must have the software on their laptop.

On 1 October 2008 O2 launched a range of services that will encourage customers to choose mobile email by helping them get set-up and supporting them once they are up and running.

These include:
  • Free online support.

  • Priority Tech Support by phone – for individuals or groups.

  • Device set-up/training –for one device or as a full day for a business.

  • BES/Microsoft Direct Push Email set up – remote or on-site.

O2 Mobile Email Experts are available across the UK and Priority Tech Support is available during business hours. We know that many of you may already offer these services and are doing a fantastic job, so we would encourage you to continue doing this. However, for those of you that do not currently offer these options, this is a great way to enable you to do so. Please note that the Priority Tech Support option is billed as airtime, so it will contribute towards revenue share.
